On 24 May 2017, at about 9.56pm, a guest reported to RWS Security about a lost black Gucci sling bag from his White Toyota Alphard, stating that he had also forgotten to wind up his windows.
Senior Executive Magdalene Lo of Transport Management took on the case. She put on her Sherlock Holmes hat and painstakingly reviewed numerous video recordings of the car park before she finally managed to trace a suspect to a White Jaguar.
Magdalene then informed Security Manager Edmond Lim who in turn requested for the suspected White Jaguar to be placed under the Vehicle Alert System, with instructions to wheel clamp and to notify the police if this vehicle enters RWS.
On 31 May 2017, at about 1.34pm, the said vehicle was detected entering RWS, which was then parked at B1 East Carp Park. The police was then activated and they laid ambush for the said driver. At about 2.23pm, the male driver returned to the vehicle and was detained for questioning. Subsequently, the male driver was arrested for Theft from Vehicle.
This swift arrest would not have been possible without the meticulous review of CCTV footages by Magdalene Lo in identifying the culprit’s vehicle.
For this, Magdalene was awarded the Commissioner of Police Individual Commendation at the recent Awards Ceremony held on 2 Feb 2018 at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess.
