Can you haiku?
Haiku, the three-line poetry popularised from Japan, made a splash with children at S.E.A. Aquarium last month. Four haiku workshops by poet Shelly Bryant and a recycled materials handicraft-making session were held, in conjunction with the launch of the 14th World Children’s Haiku Contest on 16 Jan 2016.
1,400 aRWSome Wishes came true
Christmas came early for 1,400 children beneficiaries and their families - when they got a sneak peek of Santa's All-Star Christmas and brought home presents on 4 Dec.
Realised through aRWSome Wishes, this year saw Team Members collectively contributing more than $30,000 for the gifts. We also had the support of nine partner banks and organisations, such as MasterCard, who contributed to the funds as well as providing volunteers for the event.
Students Get Creative At Recycling Art Competition
Inspired by nature, students from 29 primary and 29 secondary schools took part in the first nationwide Recycling Art Competition. Organised by RWS in collaboration with Woodgrove Secondary School and supported by the National Environment Agency, the competition had students submit entries created from recyclable items such as plastic, cans, paper, and glass bottles.

Children For Children Returns
Haze be gone! The Children For Children event finally took place on 17 November 2015, after being postponed from October due to the haze.
100 aRWSome Volunteers accompanied more than 700 primary school children to celebrate a belated Children’s Day in RWS. They began the day by watching a musical performance by 250 CHIJ (Kellock) students at Resorts World Theatre followed by an afternoon riding the movies at Universal Studios Singapore.

More Rooms Cleaned, With Time To Spare
Festive Hotel was in the news recently. After a refurbishment in February, it now boasts a quicker turnaround time, while making it easier for Rooms Team Members to complete their tasks. Some of the changes made were:
Replacing carpets with vinyl floors, which can be mopped instead of vacuuming
Having more built-in furniture to minimise having to rearrange them
Having open wardrobes, giving guests more space for their clothes while cutting down on areas to clean
